Workshop on transparency and participation in the activities of the WTO SPS committee for English-speaking countries of the African Union

Forty participants from sixteen (16) African countries, one (1) from AU-IAPSC, three (3) from AU-DREA, four (4) from AU-IBAR and two (2) from World Trade Organization (WTO) attended, from 25th to 27th November 2013 in Harare, Zimbabwe an AU-IBAR led workshop with the collaboration of WTO on the transparency provision of the SPS Committee of the WTO and on improvement of the participation of African delegates in the meetings of the SPS Committee. This workshop is dedicated to English-speaking countries of the African Union and Members of the WTO.

The following countries were represented: Botswana, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra-Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The workshop adopted the way forward that will lead to the dissemination of the knowledge gained, the subsequent national trainings, the improvement of the notifications and the participation in the meetings of the SPS Committee of the WTO.

Certificates of participation were given to each of the participants.
