AU-IBAR, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH Global) are working together to eradicate Peste des Petits Ruminants (Disease). A training is being held in Botswana (and virtually) on the risk-based approaches for PPR prevention and emergency response in historically free SADC countries.

The objective of the meeting is to provide an overview of surveillance activities, together with other elements targeted for the SADC countries that are historically free from PPR.

The training will pave way for historically free countries in the SADC region to develop emergency response plans and capacitate them in the preparation of dossiers to be submitted to WOAH Global for the declaration of freedom from PPR.
AU-IBAR was represented at the meeting by Dr. Anne Lewa, Senior Programmes and Projects Office.
